Even though it was the debut weekend for Walt Disney Pictures’ movie “John Carter,” the film was still beaten at the box office by Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax.” “The Lorax” brought in $39.1 million over the weekend, bringing its total domestic income to $122 million.
“John Carter” on the other hand brought in $30.1 million, with the only thing helping it being that the movie is doing well overseas. So far the films’ worldwide revenue is $101.2 million.

On its opening night Walt Disney Pictures movie “John Carter” brought in $9.8 million, taking the lead at the box office. However, it is expected that “The Lorax” will jump ahead of “John Carter” once the numbers from the entire weekend have been tallied. We’ll keep you posted!

Former Disney star Zac Efron was in Madrid, Spain on March 8, 2012 promoting his new animated movie “The Lorax.” Sadly, Zac’s co-star Taylor Swift didn’t make it to the event since she is currently touring in Australia.

Wow! Dr. Seuss’ movie “The Lorax” is doing amazing at the box office! Opening weekend alone the animated movie brought in over 70 million, and that’s just in the US – wow! We’ll keep you posted when more box office numbers are released for the movie, but we have a feeling “The Lorax” is going to break some records!
