Nickelodeon’s new CGI “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” series will premiere this fall and a sneak peek episode is expected to air after the Kids’ Choice Awards. A new toy line by Playmates Toys will support the show, hitting stores in the fall.
Check out a preview of the toys below, which feature great new designs for Splinter and April and individual designs for Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael.

Turtle power! The Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America in Minnesota has announced a brand new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ride expected to open in March. Along with the awesome design above, Nickelodeon Universe posted:
Introducing our new thrill ride, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shell Shock, scheduled to debut in March 2012! Shell Shock will take riders 70ft in the air in a matter of seconds reaching up to 25 mph. Each rider will control their seat which can rotate wildly like a plane propeller or a gentle teeter-totter like a seesaw making no two ride experiences the same.
Sounds great! Have you ever been to the Mall of America? Who is your favorite Ninja Turtle?
And keep your eyes peeled. Nickelodeon is expected to begin promoting its new animated series soon. We can’t wait!
Here’s some interesting news. According to a recent press release on MTV Networks’ Dutch website, we might be seeing Nickelodeon’s “The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra” as soon as the fall of 2012. The translated release states:
In 2012 there are already lots of new series in the pipeline. … In the fall are “Legends of Korra”, a spinoff of the hit series Avatar, and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, a remake of the same name and original animation series from 1988, on the program.
While this in no way confirms the American release, it looks like a very strong possibility. We would expect the English version to come out at least at the same time as the others.
What do you think, would you be happy to see “Legend of Korra” in the fall? And how about the new “Ninja Turtles” (which is set to premiere as early as February in the US)?
On August 24, IDW and Nickelodeon launched a new series of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle” comics in North America. Due to great reviews, the first printing of the first issue sold out in the first week and a second printing has been ordered.
Character creator and comic co-creator Kevin Eastman thanked his fans for the success:
WOW! What a wonderful welcome back. Although this never could have been possible without such amazing and creative teams at Nickelodeon and IDW to work with, NONE of it would have been possible without the love and support of such amazing TMNT fans!
Did you pick up your copy of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” #1? Are you excited for the next issue?
Also, how great do you think next year’s animated series will be?
Nickelodeon held a pizza party in San Diego this Friday during Comic-Con International, during which they revealed new information on the upcoming CGI “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” animated series. Starring Jason Biggs (American Pie) as Leonardo, Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings) as Raphael, Greg Cipes (Ben 10: Alien Force, Teen Titans) as Michaelangelo, and Rob Paulsen (Raphael in the 1980s series) as Donatello, the show is expected to premiere in the fall.

According to attendees of the panel, the show boasts some obvious differences from the original series. First, the turtles are more teenage in build and personality, like “high school football players.” Along with this, April O’Neil, the crime-fighters’ friend, will be a 16 year old rather than a grown woman. Executive producer Ciro Nieli explains:
Someone in their 30s with their own life going on isn’t going to be able to delegate that much interest into these characters’ lives and provide the attention and shelter that they need. April can automatically assimilate as one of them and vice versa. If they’re going to come out in the world for the first time, in the city, they’re going to want someone whose of the same mindset.
That said, the producers promise that the show will entertain both children and adults.
Sounds very cool! What do you think?
