Nickelodeon Adds “Parental Discretion With Stefanie Wilder-Taylor” To NickMom Programming Block
Nickelodeon’s NickMom programming block will air nightly on the Nick Jr channel from 10pm-12am beginning on October 1, 2012. One of the shows arriving is called “Parental Discretion with Stefanie Wilder-Taylor.”
Here’s a description of the show from Nickelodeon:
Parental Discretion with Stefanie Wilder-Taylor (26 episodes) is a show that blends studio elements, interviews, video commentary, monologues and panel discussions with hidden camera, mom on the street and sketch comedy. Each episode explores a different element of parenting, all through the irreverent and funny eyes of author and comedienne Stefanie Wilder-Taylor (Naptime is the New Happy Hour, Sippy Cups Are Not for Chardonnay). The series is executive produced by Hugh Fink (The Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Saturday Night Live, The Showbiz Show), Jane Lipsitz and Dan Cutforth from Magical Elves (Top Chef, Fashion Star) and Co-Executive Produced by Stefanie Wilder-Taylor and Jim Jones (Mad TV).
Does this sound like a show you’ll be tuning in for? We’ll keep you posted with all of the shows coming to NickMom, stay tuned!

I do not like the new “parental discretion” on nickjr! Moms have enough shows on television to watch like Lifetime which is especially for women! Why take away something thats actually teaching & entertaining our kids? This change-up was a bad decision that I nor my children like!!!!!
My 2 year old usually wakes up late at night and watches a few minutes of TV with me after I get home from my late shift. I liked the idea that TWC channel #71 here at Fort Bragg, NC would show some kids programming that late. Tonight I saw that it was replaced with a comedy show called “Parental Discretion” with some comedienne explaining how a secretary takes photocopies of her a**.
Thanks for taking this away from us. You have really achieved a new low.
I’m now looking for a new station with appropriate programming to replace you.
Parental Discretion – Bad Idea. Why would a children’s network offer adult only programming? Did NickJr fail to remember Nick Mom airs at 7:30 PM on the west coast? I realize I am ultimately responsible for what my child watches, and my opinions will most likely be in the minority, however it is quite sad that a children’s network would air programming which is totally unsuitable for children. I guess I’m getting old, I remember there was a time when TLC (The Learning Channel) offered programming for those who were actually intellectually capable of appreciating shows which were a tad more highbrow than Honey Boo Boo (which by the way is one of the highest rated shows on television)
To the producer’s and creators of the Nick Mom: Congratulations. I’m sure the concept will prove successful, which unfortunately is a reflection of our society more than anything else. However, if you ever stop to wonder why we medicate male to keep them acting like BOYS; and why preadolescent girls are f-bombing their parents one minute, and sexting their friends the next…we just need to look in the mirror and ask ourselves what have we become as a society?
Okay, I’m done Soapbox is back in the corner.
Reading time just started 30 minutes earlier in my house…
Thank you Nick Jr. for such a funny show for moms about motherhood. I haven’t seen anything like this and really appreciate the late night comic relief after spending all day running after a 1 yr old and 3 yr old. It’s definitely not for children (as implied in the title) and not depressing like some Lifetime shows. You have all my support! Thanks again!
Here, here! While there’s plenty of “adult programming,” this is the Only “mom-centered” show I’m aware of at this time. Lifetime is Not the same thing (nor is The Hallmark Channel). I’m glad to see other people Supporting this show, which is a great place to face another day (and night, when your children don’t wake up/throw up/take your pick) of motherhood with a little Levity! There are other channels (e.g. Sprout) with 24/7, Kids’ cartoons!
Really this show is a tad inappropriate for any Nick channel. Nothing on there is something that will be shown in my house, and you made my decision easier about getting a new service provider. All my kids have grown up watching cartoons and learning from the shows you offered. I question what it is you are trying to teach now! Complete trash. Needless to say myself and my husband are highly disappointed with your choice in programming. Not your best idea. Your channel has been blocked forever.
I have three kids so by the time the kids go to bed and I clean Nick is usually still playing (because I’m just too exhausted to change the channel). It is a nice break for me and comforting to know that there are other Moms just like me!!! Thank you Nick Mom!!!
Here, here, Mandy!
