Directioners Starts A Fan War Over One Direction On “ICarly”
In case you haven’t heard the big news, UK superstars One Direction (Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson) will be guest starring on “iCarly” in an episode titled “iGot Jungle Worms.” The episode films this Monday, January 30, and will feature 1D performing their hit “What Makes You Beautiful.” Here’s the synopsis:
Carly returns home sick after a trip and discovers that One Direction has accepted an invitation to perform on their web show. Not long after arriving, bandmate Harry becomes sick and we see Carly doting over him. Realizing Harry is playing sick for the attention, they hatch a plan to get him back in the group by telling him Gibby has become their newest bandmember. Meanwhile, Spencer becomes a personal trainer and gives a bratty girl a makeover.
Many fans of One Direction from all over the world reacted unhappily to the news over Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and even Nickutopia. In fact, many were furious. Though some are excited to see their favorite band on their favorite TV show, others argue that One Direction and “iCarly” could not be more different. Made up of guys 17-20 years old who are known for swearing and talking about sex, One Direction is not exactly geared towards an audience of young children who, as the 1D fanbase argues, is the major demographic of “iCarly” viewers.
Some fans are simply worried young viewers will become new fans of the band based on their appearance on the show and later be shocked by what they find out about the band on the internet. Yet, a majority are angry with One Direction, seeing their appearance on the show as ‘selling out’ or choosing the wrong show to guest star on and fear that an influx of new fans from the United States and the rest of the world could change the band forever. One Direction will also be touring with Nickelodeon stars Big Time Rush this February in the US, who are known to have younger fans.
So, only a day away from the episode being filmed, what are your thoughts about One Direction on “iCarly?” Are you worried the band may become even bigger and lose sight of their true selves and fans? Are you happy 1D will have more publicity and opportunities?

I’m only upset that Harry is the main character in all this. I mean, I think the boys should have someother big involvement in the developing plot or have tiny little subplots so it’s just not revolving around him as much. I’m a huge Directioner and I see all the talk on Twitter. I’m just worried about the new fans. Like, hopefully most of the them will them for their music while looks are a big bonus! But if they said they “love” One Direction for their looks, then I don’t want any of that. I am partially (not as much) worried about a younger audience because I’m pretty sure kids know how to use Youtube and if they see some old interviews and what they say, well, you know, they’ll know some “new words.” It’s not like I can stop them from becoming fans though. Actually, as long as kids are genuine fans, I don’t even care. My only problems are the main character thing and the fake fan thing.
We want our boys to become popular, but the thing is is that we feel betrayed because of the other fans saying they’re more of fans than us when we were there before them. We don’t want the US to become United States of Directionators. Nobody understands their jokes, their bromances…. It’s just… no. America’s already taking the fun out of 1D, they think Harry’s the lead singer. Are you kidding me? THERE IS NO LEAD!
Secondly, do you think it’s right to teach younger kids about what 1D talks about? HAH! No. Plus, the bromances. Oh god. I’m leaning more towards a Larry kiss than a Carly/Harry kiss. Heck I don’t WANT them to kiss at all. Louis will be upset
In conclusion, we’re not being selfish. We honestly do think that iCarly is the WRONG show to put them on.

But I totally agree what you say, and I hope that if we see the ”ICarly behind the scenes” we will see that Louis’ gonna be jealous XD But if the boys gets all equal parts in the show, it’s okay, no? We just have read the synopsis, maybe the others have equal parts!

Okay so I’am an american and I sorta agree with, I don’t want them on iCarly because they are 18-20 and this show is intended for 10-12 year olds. I don’t minded having 10-12 year olds as their new fans, ut I will get angry if they say they love them because their hot. I live in the US and I know so many things about 1D, I know as much as you do, hello it’s called Youtube, Tumblr,Twitter..etc These boys are sexual and I love it. When they act Gay it’s funny and the big reason I don’t want them on the show is because they’re making Harry be the Lead and if I could remember since they were put together, there isn’t a Lead, they all have equal parts (except for Louis and Niall but there working on that) they are 5 boys not 1 boy and 4 back up singers. I love One Direction as much as the British fans, don’t forget we all are a family THE 1D FAMILY IS STRONG and we shouldn’t be fighting each other, but we should be fight the real problem and the ones who are making all of this happen DIRECTIONATORS yep you heard me, they are making it all worse for us real fans who love these boys for their awkwardness and their bromances. I love 1D till I die, we (the real fans Directioner) should join forces and fight against the DIRECTIONATORS. well, i’ve been with 1D since X Factor, and I’m from America, so the comments about Americans creating a lead singer is a little off base, but if you see my above comment, i do agree that iCarly is not the way for them to gain new fans in America. I want the boys to become famous, and everyone deserves to be a fan, no matter when they found out about 1D, but i don’t want the boys to have to change from their cheeky selves to a cleaned up American version. that’s one of the things i love about them, that they’re more candid than most bands. being on iCarly will make them have to clean themselves up.

I don’t hate icarly. I have nothing against that show. But, it does piss me off that I’ve been a fan since ’10, and now all these fake teenybopping girls will come in, and act as if they knew One Direction before the REAL fans. I don’t want them on icarly at all, they don’t belong there. And it’s always been LARRY not carly/harry. And besides, why is the show being based around Harry? What about the others? Zayn, liam, niall and louis? this is bull/ And Harry is NOT the lead.

I’m not really that upset that 1D will be on iCarly. I love iCarly and I’m 16! The show is extremely funny, and I think 1D could have a lot of fun on the show. However, I am upset about the new young fanbase. Like people have been saying, 1D is very inappropriate and frequently tweet about their raging drunk parties. I really don’t think parents would be happy knowing that their little girls new favorite band gets drunk a lot and none of them are virgins. AND PLUS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD THERE IS NO LEADER OF ONE DIRECTION. ESPECIALLY NOT HARRY. WHY IS HE THE FOCUS OF THE PLOT. maybe he’s the most popular or whatever, but that surely does not make him the leader. I just don’t want a bunch of new fans coming in saying they love 1D yet they don’t know what nandos, vas happenin, spoons, carrots or torn means. Whether you love their music, style, humour, and/or pretty faces…you ARE a fan. What I think is that the boys should be on a different show, not on iCarly. It would be bad for the boys to be on a show for a younger group of kids when they swear and talk about inappropriate things. Plus, with the plot of the episode it makes it seem like it’s all about Harry and Harry’s being an attention seeking bandmate–which he isn’t. If they’re supposed to be themselves, then Harry should be Harry, not attention seeking. All of the boys should be included, not just Harry.
Im not gonna judge an episode before we actually get to see it. the synopsis does say that the others hatch a plan so who knows they might have the same amount of air time. and for it being a kids show they wear awfully skimpy clothes and have not so clean jokes. example spencer as the mayor in the itoe fat cakes episode or spencer and his girlfriend in the psycho episode. maybe icarly is trying to mature up thier image a little
Being a true fan isn’t about knowing the band since the start it is about sticking with them until the end!!!!!! Icarly Is a fine show to put them on because it is nickelodeon and who doesn’t watch it. And all you people saying that it is unfair that Harry gets such a big part over the other guys that is because he has a larger fan saw then the others, he is more popular lets face it. And you don’t need to be from the uk to get there jokes and stuff I’m from Australia and know everything about these hotties
