Directioners Starts A Fan War Over One Direction On “ICarly”
In case you haven’t heard the big news, UK superstars One Direction (Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson) will be guest starring on “iCarly” in an episode titled “iGot Jungle Worms.” The episode films this Monday, January 30, and will feature 1D performing their hit “What Makes You Beautiful.” Here’s the synopsis:
Carly returns home sick after a trip and discovers that One Direction has accepted an invitation to perform on their web show. Not long after arriving, bandmate Harry becomes sick and we see Carly doting over him. Realizing Harry is playing sick for the attention, they hatch a plan to get him back in the group by telling him Gibby has become their newest bandmember. Meanwhile, Spencer becomes a personal trainer and gives a bratty girl a makeover.
Many fans of One Direction from all over the world reacted unhappily to the news over Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and even Nickutopia. In fact, many were furious. Though some are excited to see their favorite band on their favorite TV show, others argue that One Direction and “iCarly” could not be more different. Made up of guys 17-20 years old who are known for swearing and talking about sex, One Direction is not exactly geared towards an audience of young children who, as the 1D fanbase argues, is the major demographic of “iCarly” viewers.
Some fans are simply worried young viewers will become new fans of the band based on their appearance on the show and later be shocked by what they find out about the band on the internet. Yet, a majority are angry with One Direction, seeing their appearance on the show as ‘selling out’ or choosing the wrong show to guest star on and fear that an influx of new fans from the United States and the rest of the world could change the band forever. One Direction will also be touring with Nickelodeon stars Big Time Rush this February in the US, who are known to have younger fans.
So, only a day away from the episode being filmed, what are your thoughts about One Direction on “iCarly?” Are you worried the band may become even bigger and lose sight of their true selves and fans? Are you happy 1D will have more publicity and opportunities?
Stay tuned for more news when 1D goes on set this week.

Directioners are worried because One Direction are gonna have more public, not because it’s “iCarly” and that is selfish!! Worst fans ever.
Directioners are NOT at ALL the worst fans ever. We want our boys to become popular, but the thing is is that we feel betrayed because of the other fans saying they’re more of fans than us when we were there before them. We don’t want the US to become United States of Directionators. Nobody understands their jokes, their bromances…. It’s just… no. America’s already taking the fun out of 1D, they think Harry’s the lead singer. Are you kidding me? THERE IS NO LEAD!
In conclusion, we’re not being selfish. We honestly do think that iCarly is the WRONG show to put them on. Don’t judge us before you know anything about us.
I agree with most of what you say, except not all americans are directionators some of us love all the boys just as much as you UK directioners do even if we are a little newer to scene then you are.
Sorry to say it but there are some of us in america that have lvoed the boys just as long as everyone in the uk and longer then some speaking personally ive loved them sicne they first became a band so dont have such a broad hate on us i hate it just as much though i lvoe that they are special because no one here is all over them yet and the youngsters are to young for these boys and i dont want 5 yr olds fan girling over them and making them a joke.
Yeah ummm. I’m American and I know probably as much as some UK fans. I understand their jokes and Bromances and all that so yeah just thought I’d let you know.
totally agree with you,, when they think HARRY is the leader,, that’s what exactly made the directoners mad.. they was formed as a boyband, and their talent are equal among each other. there’s no way a leader in them!!! US just don’t understand it.
Hey! I’m from the US, and I’ve been yelling at my computer the past week because most girls only notice Harry!
First of all. America already known about One Direction way before they came to America, nobody thinks Harry is the lead obviously we know they all have parts. We aren’t Directionators just because we wasn’t there for the very beginning doesn’t mean we don’t know about them, doesn’t mean we don’t know about all the jokes, the bromances, and the bromance names. We know just as much as you do so don’t stereotype us for anything. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
Thank you! I’m from the US but I’ve been supporting the boys since X-Factor 2010 and the Video Diaries! Girls here are already professing their love for Zayn but have no idea who he is! They don’t know our inside jokes or what Jimmy protested! I DO NOT want them on iCarly. Worst idea ever! Then theyll be sayin sh*t in sync and saying stupid stuff. No no no.
people in america love the boys just as much as you in the UK do. I understand their jokes and bromances too!! its really annoying how you think that america will ruin the boys. how are they supposed to become more successful in they stay in london all the time. i have loved one direction for over a year now and i think that directioners have become to protective of them. let them tour other countries so everyone can learn about them, isn’t that what we want for the boys!!
I am from the US and i know all their jokes and bromances! Your just stereotyping.. The US know as much as the Directioners in the UK. I love the boys because of how funny and normal they are, not by the way they look. But i somehow agree, my bestfriend and I love 1D and we talk about them all the time. Now this chick in my class started to like Zayn because she thought he was cute. But just remember not all of us in the US are like that. Like you said, “Don’t judge us before you know anything about us”
the U.S isnt taking the fun out of 1D they even say they like America……
What most Directioners are annoyed about is ONE DIRECTION ARE A BAND, HARRY IS NOT THE LEAD!!!!! So the iCarly episode shouldn’t only mainly involve him!!!! And the face that even though it’s a tv show it kInda gives Harry a bad name and iCarly is a children’s TV show ok?
THANK YOU.
i just don’t want them to change who they are and become more censored and “goody goody” like btr. the reason i like 1D is their candidness, they’re just like any other 17-20 year old. i dont want them to have to hide who they are all because they gained younger fans. that’s being fake.
I totally agree.
Thats Messed Up , One Direction is a teen Boy band , like they said they are between 17 soon 18 – 20 years old , they should be on iCarly , even though i am not a fan of iCarly , i rarely watch it , but anyways , with this episode many people in US , CANADA etc , will know who are One Direction , right now not many people know One Direction , yet even though they are getting there debut song on radio Disney , alot , with this show it will start there fame in US , well it will attract a teen fanbase , but later they will appear more on other tv shows.
The whole episode is basically about Harry, when there are FOUR other lads in the band. We don’t want them on, because the show is geared towards little kids, and the boys deffinitely don’t suit that. Now, because they are going on, there’s gonna be a slew of 10 year olds loving 1D because they’re cute, and not because they are talented, and can sing extremely well. This fandom is not saying we don’t want the boys to become famous, we’re saying that we don’t want a bunch of fake fans who will most likely, because it always happens, like Harry. It’s the wrong show for them to be on. They could have atleast picked a show geared towards an audience that is around their age. These boys are 17-20 years old; Harry’s going to be 18 on February 1st. I don’t want them having to watch what they say and do, because 10 year olds are now liking them. Therefore, do I think it’s a bad idea for them to go on iCarly? Yes. Is it because I’m “selfish?” No.
Exactly, I’m a true fan and want them to succeed, but iCarly is definitely not the right show. It’s not even a musical show. Having them on Victorious would make more sense.
Or Big Time Rush. I mean, they went on tour together.
I am 11, and I was a huge fan of iCarly when I was 10. I actually discovered the boys on that show. I knew they were cute, but I didn’t know how talented they really were. I agree that the four other boys should have done something while Harry got Jungleworms. I kinda liked the idea, but the boys all should have had an equal part.
See? I’m 11, and I don’t just like them because of their looks. I like them now for their personalities, their talent. Not all eleven-year-olds are as stupid as you think they are. I understand the bromances, to all the people in UK, saying the US is ruining them, and I understand what they say, no matter if it is a sexual joke or what.
What I have to say is: Not all younger kids are stupid. I think all of you forgot what it was to be like in sixth grade. You know just about everything about sexual jokes because there’s always that one kid that can teach you, and the rest of the school if s/he wanted.
Not all Americans are stupid either. We know a lot about the boys, too. Sure, we may not have been there from the VERY beginning like me, but is it our fault that they were born in England and Ireland, and it took a little while to come to us? You guys in the UK and Ireland are across the OCEAN to us. Is that our fault? No. Do we still love the boys? YES. And I think that’s the part that you guys are missing. We still love the boys, not for their looks, but their talent and personalities.
I don’t think it matters what show they would be on. Victorious is not that popular as a show iCarly was. If you want the boys to be successful, why is this such a big deal? It’s the same like for Big Time Rush. Nobody watched that because it was ALL ABOUT THEM. At least in iCarly, more people watched, and they helped Harry get rid of the Jungleworms.
So, what does it matter if we’re in sixth grade, or twelfth, or live in the UK or the US? We all love the boys, and that’s all that matters.
i definitely think that it’s inappropriate for the boys to be on the show, not because of their age, but because of the actions that go with their ages. they do swear, they talk a lot about sex. as we all know, the UK is not as censored as the US tends to be. most other videos out there include a lot of these things, that the viewers of the show don’t need to watch. i’ll be happy to see the boys on the show, but Nickelodeon does need to realize what they’re getting themselves into. also, it’s a band, and no one has ever been dubbed “leader”.
@Tej One direction is HUUUGE! Not just the UK but world wide. They have a much larger fan base than btr for example. Look at twitter. If anything this will not attract a teen fanbase more like a little girl fan base
I think it is a very vocal minority of obsessed fans who are not hgappy and have a sense of entitlement but the real issue for many that I have read is the fact the focus seems to be more on Harry when this is a group of five who all share the limelight and all have been responsible for the success of the group. It is One Direction not Harry and the Others.
we’re not bad fans, we love how they are gaining fans, isnt that what happens when you become famous? Its a big opportunity for them which is great but i agree that Harry should not be the lead because the band is not harry and the band its ONE DIRECTION. they should all have a lead. Also maybe Icarly wasnt the right show to choose, a better show couldve been chosen but its a still a great opportunity for them. We just dont want them to change who they are, its what we love about them and sell out since they will be acquiring new younger fans!
IM PERFECTLY HAPPY WITH ONE DIRECTION GOING ON iCARLY. DIRECTIONERS SHOULD BE HAPPY FOR THEM♥.
