Directioners Starts A Fan War Over One Direction On “ICarly”
In case you haven’t heard the big news, UK superstars One Direction (Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson) will be guest starring on “iCarly” in an episode titled “iGot Jungle Worms.” The episode films this Monday, January 30, and will feature 1D performing their hit “What Makes You Beautiful.” Here’s the synopsis:
Carly returns home sick after a trip and discovers that One Direction has accepted an invitation to perform on their web show. Not long after arriving, bandmate Harry becomes sick and we see Carly doting over him. Realizing Harry is playing sick for the attention, they hatch a plan to get him back in the group by telling him Gibby has become their newest bandmember. Meanwhile, Spencer becomes a personal trainer and gives a bratty girl a makeover.
Many fans of One Direction from all over the world reacted unhappily to the news over Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and even Nickutopia. In fact, many were furious. Though some are excited to see their favorite band on their favorite TV show, others argue that One Direction and “iCarly” could not be more different. Made up of guys 17-20 years old who are known for swearing and talking about sex, One Direction is not exactly geared towards an audience of young children who, as the 1D fanbase argues, is the major demographic of “iCarly” viewers.
Some fans are simply worried young viewers will become new fans of the band based on their appearance on the show and later be shocked by what they find out about the band on the internet. Yet, a majority are angry with One Direction, seeing their appearance on the show as ‘selling out’ or choosing the wrong show to guest star on and fear that an influx of new fans from the United States and the rest of the world could change the band forever. One Direction will also be touring with Nickelodeon stars Big Time Rush this February in the US, who are known to have younger fans.
So, only a day away from the episode being filmed, what are your thoughts about One Direction on “iCarly?” Are you worried the band may become even bigger and lose sight of their true selves and fans? Are you happy 1D will have more publicity and opportunities?
Stay tuned for more news when 1D goes on set this week.

I’m sorry, but their fan base is ridiculously. They are not worried that One Direction is going to be a bad influence on younger kids; they are just worried that more people are going to start likeing them. “Directioners” are seriously selfish. When I read comments from them on any of One Directions videos its always about how that people who just become fans of them aren’t true fans and that people don’t won’t them to move to the US because they “belong” to the UK; it’s all stupid, selfish, and immature. There only thinking about there selfs and their relationship with them; not about One Directions career. I am seriously starting to think that they are not even fans of them because of their music. (This is not all Directoners, but its most of them.)
I was a fan of one directions until i found out about the fan base. They are seriously rude. I wont call myself a directioner because of it. They think that people in the US dont know as much about them as people in the UK do. Its stupid becuase they think that one direction belongs to them they own them and people in the US dont know as much as they do and in fact their wrong. Last they think if they move to the US they are going to change but the fact is if one direction acts as immature as they do know when they are in there lets say late 20 they WILL NOT have alot of fans and i can guaruntee that. So if they are only fans of them because of there personaltys and there humor they mine as well not be fans of them.
iCarly was one thing. The fact that Nickelodeon now has development project for One Direction makes me want to cry. This is what’ll happen: just like all other Nickelodeon or Disney stars, 1D will begin to attract a much younger audience. I honestly don’t think they’re geared toward a young age group, predominantly due to the fact that they swear and talk about sex. Good luck with that, Nickelodeon! Also, when a star sells out to Disney or Nick, they’re never the same. Not only do they become “fake” and overproduced, but there have been many cases in which their lives have been screwed up just due to the overwhelming amount of publicity they’re getting (although this mostly applies to Disney). Take a look at Miley Cyrus. Started out as Hannah Montana, but as she got older, wanted to appeal to a more “adult” audience, and therefore made a lot of bad decisions that ended up getting her nowhere. I don’t want the boys I love to one day find themselves in a position that they cant get out of, whether the reason be contracting, reputation, etc.
I know them as the boys from Mullingar, Wolverhampton, Cheshire, Doncaster and Bradford, not the boys from iCarly. I know them as the five boys who sat on the staircase and made us laugh every week, not the boys from Nickelodeon.
Keep 1D the same!!!!
ok, this is what i think. i’m a directioner, and i haven’t been there since the x-factor, i started being a fan earlier this year, but i know every single joke, dance move, lyrics…everything. so having new fans isn’t a bad thing. not really. i honestly don’t mind new fans, but if they are directionators, i defiantly mind, the don’t deserve concert tickets or anything like that. but really, it’s like you don’t want the boys to be famous., when everyday you say you’re gonna support them through EVERYTHING they do. well, it doesn’t look like you’re supporting them now. and you think that this will attract younger fans which is bad. i don’t think it is. you don’t have to be a fan of a singer/band depending on your age. if they know every song, joke, x-factor performance, everything, then they are a fan. does it really matter how old you are to like them? does it REALLY? I know they are really inappropriate but my 12 year old sister LOVES them and she know everything, and i mean EVERYTHING about them, even their bromances. (i know, she shouldn’t know about that at that age, but at least she dosen’t look it up on Google or read the fanfic Room 317
)
so directioners, please stop worrying. i’m not gonna lie, some of you can be so selfish and annoying. if the boys are happy if they got this opportunity to act, then let them be happy. but i gotta admit, the way they let Harry have most of the lines is annoying, like he’s the leader when he is not. but other than that, i don’t mind them being on iCarly, i don’t think it changed anything about them they’re still the same idiot boys i love
i watched the episode, i quite liked it, and i think the boys enjoyed being on it. so please, PLEASE stop ranting, otherwise i’m leaving this fandom for good
I NOW really miss the old them. If they Nick is going have a show for them, they are going to be SCRIPTED. They won’t be themselves. They can’t crack perverted jokes. Yeah, they may be super funny in their video diaries. But that’s because they can be what they want. THEY CAN’T ACT.They can be as perverted AS EVER. Please note, in every fandom , THERE ARE FAKE FANS. That is were “Directionators” come in. YES, we like more fans. But we don’t wan’t FAKE FANS. We don’t need another Sydney Dalton. Directionators are people who like them because they are cute. Heck knows, if they even know the other boys’ names! THAT is what a directionator is. They only CARE about ONE PERSON OR TWO PEOPLE IN THE BAND. THEY ONLY KNOW TWO SONGS; WMYB AND ONE THING. So please, cut the “Directionator” crap. Only true Directioners understand.
As a true directioner, i wont be watching this. One direction dosent need a younger fan base! The age group of Icarley is way to young to understand the songs 1D sings! Especialy songs like moments. 1D should be more worried about their next album,and adding more tour dates in 2013!they should come to places like Wisconsin,wyoming,Dc and Montanna!
i just wanna say… i love ONE DIRECTION!
