“The ’90s Are All That” Countdown – “Legends Of The Hidden Temple”
In case you missed the spectacular news, starting July 25 at midnight TeenNick will begin airing a new block called “The ’90s Are All That.” Airing from 12 to 4 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday, the block will feature all of your favorite Nickelodeon shows from the ’90s. Check out the list of shows here.
In celebration, we’ve decided to devote each day in the countdown to a classic Nick show.
Today: “Legends of the Hidden Temple.”

Originally airing from September 11, 1993 to 1995 and later rerun on Nick GaS, the show was hosted by the one and only Kirk Fogg and his giant stone buddy Olmec, voiced by Dee Bradley Baker. Where are the two now? Kirk played a District Attorney in the “Veronica Mars” pilot and starred in the 2006 film “Distortion.” Dee Bradley Baker has voiced many characters since Olmec, including Perry the Platypus on “Phineas and Ferb,” Troopers in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” and various fish in “SpongeBob SquarePants.”
The show placed six teams (one girl and one boy) in absurd competitions (the moat, temple games) and a question round (the steps of knowledge) based on the history of an artifact, eliminating the teams until one was left to enter the Hidden Temple and retrieve the artifact.
Quick, what are the six teams? Red Jaguars, Blue Barracudas, Green Monkeys, Orange Iguanas, Purple Parrots, and Silver Snakes – decked out in colored shirts and matching helmets, kneepads, elbowpads, and mouth guards. Which team do you always root for? Is it just us or did the Purple Parrots have the worst record of them all?
The temple run was probably the greatest three minutes of television ever aired. Imagine the courage needed to face Olmec and tell him that you would go in first. Olmec grunts and the gates drop, and then the music. That music. Music they should play during Olympic races. And was anybody else absolutely terrified of the temple guards?
We don’t know about you, but we would have given anything to compete on this show and try our hand at winning a trip to Space Camp. Did you ever compete on the show or know someone who did?

So, with only days until the ’90s return to television, we’ve decided to share our six favorite temple runs – one from each team. Check them out below.
How excited are you for “The ’90s Are All That” to air on TeenNick?

Legends of the hidden temple to me was an coolest show. Not only did you have the sports end of it they tell you a story and you
have to work your way threw this big temple dodging temple guards. Getting out with the object in your hand within said time the show left you to wander what happened with this man or woman in the legend in real life. I remember an episode about the secret map of the bandit queen – it told us about belle starr and jesse james out of Missouri. Belle was born in carthage. The story is very much true they are saying now jesse faked his own death and his loot is hidden some where all over the u.s.a. Bell was killed out right in Oklahoma. The whole show itself was a wonder to me. I would be happy if you would put it back on with the new block on teen nick called the 90′s are all that.
Thank you very much for bringing back all the classics old school rules!
Bring back Legends of the hidden temple.
It’s about time these shows came back. I remember ordering Nick Gas and watching it all day, but then it just up and disappeared. What Nick should do is make a 90s channel, maybe with those awesome old animated “we will be right back” cartoons and even stick stickly. Dust off the old po box 963 new york city new york state 10108. I missed Pete and Pete – it was hardly ever re-aired. That was my favorite show of all, other than the awesome game shows: Double Dare, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Guts. They are all classics and I would never change my channel again if this became a channel. I could toss my remote out. And the thing I miss most of all – a very special object that is no longer with us – the nick slime fountain outside the Nickelodeon Studios building. I went there once as a kid and i will never forget it. Bring back the awesome 90s shows and please don’t ever take them away again.
The old game show hosts were the best. Howie had nothing on Mark Summers, Kirk Fog, Mark Weiner, or Mike O’malley. Nobody has come close since. The show “All That” was, in my opinion, better than SNL. As a kid, “Are You Afraid of the Dark” sent chills down my spine, yet I couldn’t look away. “The Adventures of Pete and Pete” was directed better than any other. It was in a real world neighborhood with real people with a family that looked every bit like they were blood relatives. The antics of little Pete and the seriousness of big Pete, in my opinion, was the best and I would watch it all day if i was able. I was sad when I heard the Nickelodeon Studios building was gone and so was the slime fountain I remember seeing after every show and I once stood before it as a kid. The slime fountain was an icon of the 90s. It once defined the greatest place in the world and it will be greatly missed.
welcome back 90s shows hopefully they are here to stay
Loved legends of the hidden temple as a kid, used to mess around in my house like it was legends. Great show along the end being the best. Truthfully i wish they start a new season and bring it back, personally i would bring it back myself if i had the money to reproduce it and get some advertisers for it.
