“The Adventures of Tintin” Will Be A Trilogy

News has surfaced that Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson are making not two (as was previously thought), but three Tintin films with Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies. The first called “The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn,” directed by Spielberg, will hit theaters on December 23. Its story is made up of three of Herge’s classic stories: “The Crab with the Golden Claws,” “The Secret of the Unicorn,” and “Red Rackham’s Treasure.”

The second film called “The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun” will be released in 2013 and its script is currently being written and edited. We can imagine that, like the first film, this will be a compilation of Herge stories – possibly “Tintin and the Picaros” and “The Broken Ear,” for they all take place in South and Middle America.

There is currently no information on the third film’s title or plot. It will be released in 2015.

All films will star Jamie Bell (Jumper, The Eagle) as Tintin, Andy Serkis (best known as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings films) as Captain Haddok, and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Paul, Sean of the Dead) as Thompson and Thomson.

Below is the new trailer for “The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn” as well as the three original cartoons that the film will be based on.

Are you excited to see all three adventures of Tintin?
