Nickelodeon has teamed up with the NFL to create an NFL animated series on the network. A number of football players and coaches will be lending their voices to the new show called “Rush Zone: Guardians to the Core.”

Keith Dawkins, the general manager of Nicktoons, said about the new show:

This new series combines fantasy, sports, game play, team work, competition and the age old theme of good vs. evil, under one compelling new narrative.

The show will follow a 10-year-old character named Ishmael who tries to save humanity when he learns that the 32 NFL stadiums hold a benevolent life force and that they are under attack. Some of the other characters in the show include:

- Sudden Death: the villain determined to end humanity
- Rusherz: the superheroes that represent the 32 teams
- Blitz Botz: Sudden Death’s army of robots
- O.T.: Ishmael’s mentor

The series will begin airing during the football season and will end with a one-hour movie special airing the day before the Superbowl in February.
